The All India Committee of AIDYO registers, its strongest protest against the rape and murder of a female trainee doctor in Kolkata's R G Kar Medical College and Hospital that sent shockwaves throughout the country. It’s quite natural that the junior doctors are organising protests and ceasing work to demand swift justice to the victim and throughout the country people in general have poured out on to the streets to register their protest against the incident as well as increasing crimes on women. The question of safety of woman at workplaces has again occupied the centre stage.

Meanwhile, in another incident, anti-social elements attacked the protesters and vandalised the venue of the protest at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital late at midnight on 14 Aug 2024. with an express intention to destroy the evidence and disturb the investigation as well as instil a sense of fear in the minds of protesters. We strongly condemn this intentional and well orchestrated attack by the hooligans intended to protect the perpetrators of the crime. The authorities of the hospital have not only have not reacted promptly, but are appearing to be conniving with the criminals and attempting to protect them.

All India Committee of AIDYO appeal the people to remain vigilant while strengthening the genuine movement going on in the country and not to rest till justice is meted out the victim. Such acts of the hooligans only help the perpetrators of the crime and strengthen the hands of the power that be to brand genuine protestors as anti-socials and suppress the movement.

"The brutal attack by the Bangladesh police and Chhatra League on the student movement demanding merit-based recruitment has left 64 dead and over 300 injured. This is highly condemnable and has shaken the heart of students and youth of the whole world. The slogan ‘Merit and No Quota’ against the age-old irrelevant quota system for employment to the ‘wards of the freedom fighters’ is genuine and has spread across Bangladesh gaining the support of many intellectuals, educationists, and prominent individuals. However, the ruling Awami League did not call the movement leaders for any talks terming the movement as anti-national. Instead, they unleashed a brutal police attack on the protesters. Chhatra League goons are also carrying out terrorism and vandalism across the country. Moreover, the Awami League tried to create hatred and hostility among the public towards the protesters. This is nothing but fascist aggression.

We strongly condemn this attack and express our solidarity with the courageous struggle of the students of Bangladesh. We appeal to all democratic-minded students, youths, teachers, and citizens of the world to build strong public opinion against the fascist attack of the Bangladesh government and in support of the student movement."

Amarjeet Kumar, General Secretary of the youth organization, All India Democratic Youth Organization (AIDYO) issued the following statement against the arbitrary and unreasonable hike in the prices of net packs and mobile recharges by private telecom companies and demanded its immediate withdrawal.

He said that nowadays, all the services have been digitalized by the governments and the dependence on the internet of every section including students for online classes, youth for online application forms and public service examinations, street venders for online transactions and general people for availing medical and other benefits is increasing and internet mobile data and recharge has become an indispensable part of an individual's life. At the same time, unemployment and inflation is making him hard to get two meals a day. Thus the mobile data has become so necessary for him that he is forced to stay hungry and save money for mobile recharge.

In such a miserable and helpless situation of the common people, the private telecom companies have arbitrarily and inhumanly hiked the charges of prepaid mobile and data services once again. Since the Corona period, while small scale industries and business face heavy loss, these private telecom companies have been looking for every opportunity to rise the tariff and reap maximum profit. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), which is expected to provide fair and transparent policy in the interest of mobile consumers, instead of controlling the private players, remains as a silent spectator. We demand from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to immediately intervene in this matter and force private telecom companies to completely withdraw the unfair hike in recharges and data charges in the interest of consumers. We demand from the Central Government to revive the public sector telecom company BSNL and enable communication services affordable. Further, we appeal to the general public to come forward to raise their voice against this arbitrary periodic hike by private telecom companies and pressurize TRAI and Central Government withdraw the hike immediately.

On the above-mentioned demand, AIDYO is organizing a nation-wide protest on 2nd July and on 3rd July we will be sending mass mail to TRAI. You are requested to cover it in your newspaper/channel.

On June 18, the UGC-NET exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) was canceled following complaints of irregularities. And the investigation has been handed over to the CBI. AIDYO strongly condemns such lapses in various examinations conducted by NTA including NEET, UGCNET and hereby demands immediate arrest and exemplary punishment to the culprits who have ruined the efforts of lakhs of examinees. The UGC-NET exam was conducted on Tuesday at 1205 exam centers in 317 cities across the country. More than 9 lakhs candidates appeared for the exam. Since this year it has been made mandatory to pass the NET exam for PhD admissions, students who are waiting for PhD admissions and who have completed their PG to qualify for the post of assistant professors in colleges appeared for this exam. But the specter of corruption that takes place in all appointments has now hit this test as well. In recent times, when the entrance exams for recruitment or higher education are conducted, scams are common. These scams have created an environment of employment and educations for the rich only, and have pushed the lives of common people to the streets.

The Central Education Department said that the examination was canceled after the information about scam in the examination was received by the Nation's Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit of Indian Cyber Crime Co-ordination Center to the UGC. But so far no one has been arrested for involvement in the crime.
Therefore, the culprits should be arrested immediately and should be punished.

AIDYO hereby asks the central government to take appropriate action to ensure that all the examinations are conducted transparently to give hope to all the candidates who are frustrated due to examination scams. It also calls for the youth to come forward to build a united and powerful movements against such illegalities and scams that are happening under the nose of the government.
